Burns Awareness Month – South Africans are urged to take extra precautions to prevent burn injuries during winter
PODCAST: As winter approaches, the risk of burn injuries increases. During National Burns Awareness Week, the National Burn Association of South Africa’s Sharon Jones and Colin Lee spoke to POWER98.7 about this year’s theme, “Protect, Prevent, Heal,” and shared essential information on staying safe and supporting burn survivors.

Rekindling Connections: The Unexpected Reunion with a Burn Survivor from Our Past Camp
Sometimes, when you least expect it, but may need it, an incident from the past pops in to your life. Such was the case this Saturday upon meeting Candice, a burn survivor from Oceans View. In the first few minutes of interaction Candice told Sharon and I that she had been on a burn survivor camp some 23 years ago.
Nombulelo Maqhutyana – Looking Back… Moving Forward
I’m Nombulelo Vokwana Maqhutyana. I’m 37 years old, joined NBASA in 2008, introduced by Tar Ace (Andile Majola) the journey to my freedom began. I joined, met Shaz and Mr Colin then other burn survivors Phindi, Mary, Kim and others we were sisters and brothers with lot of talents.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our friend, colleague, counsellor and ambassador, Jo MAFALO ex Orange Farm. Jo passed away on the 20 September 2023, leaving his wife, Vumile and daughter, Hlompho. Jo was a man of many talents, a beloved teacher and upright community member.
