Government officials to assist Langa fire survivors in rebuilding efforts

Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane

Minister of Human Settlements Thembi Simelane and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Njabulo Nzuza are set to visit Langa township on Wednesday following a devastating fire on Boxing Day that destroyed nearly 300 structures and left around 700 people homeless.

Survivors can expect to receive essential building materials to begin reconstructing their homes. Additionally, the Department of Home Affairs will deploy mobile offices to assist those who lost important documents in the fire.

Spokesperson Tsekiso Machike stated, “The minister and deputy minister will oversee this critical government intervention.”
